Man assaulted in Linda in critical condition
A 39-year-old man is in critical condition today after he was attacked late Wednesday in east Linda, the Yuba County Sheriff's Department reported.
The victim's name was not released to protect the ongoing criminal investigation, Lt. Damon Gil said.
Detectives are looking into the circumstances surrounding the assault. Few details are known.
A patrolling Yuba College police officer found the victim around 11 p.m. lying beside the roadway in the 1600 block of Hammonton-Smartsville Road, Sheriff Steve Durfor said in a press release.
Investigators believe the man got into an altercation with an unidentified person and was struck with an unknown blunt object.
The attacker, described only as an "unknown male," left the scene in an undetermined direction, the sheriff's department said.
Deputies are still looking for the weapon used in the attack.
The assault was one of two violent episodes Wednesday in Linda.
William Thomas Harmon was stabbed multiple times around 2 p.m. in the 1800 block of Hile Avenue.
Harmon, 46, was also listed in "critical" condition Thursday morning.
No arrests have made in either case.
Investigators do not believe the incidents are connected, Gil said.
Anyone with information regarding either assault is asked to contact the Yuba County Sheriff's Department at 749-7777.
