State panel OKs funds for Willows
The California Transportation Commission on Tuesday allocated $6,000 to upgrade streets in Willows.
The projects are reconstruction of Sacramento Street and Butte Street South with each to receive $3,000.
Butte Street South reconstruction will be between Willow and Wood streets.
Curbs, gutters and sidewalks at various locations within the project area will be upgraded. Storm water drainage will also be improved, reducing standing water, the CTC said. Traffic improvements will be more efficient and road will interface better with Wood Street (Highway 162) as the road is at a maximum slope for crowning.
The Sacramento Street work will be between Sycamore and Wood streets.
The CTC said the project will coordinate with other infrastructure upgrades and maintenance. Reconstructed roadway will provide improved access to pedestrians from the street to curb and sidewalk. Road slope will be more favorable for bicycle traffic. Traffic flow will be more efficient.
Total costs of the projects were not available.
