Sutter County reports 2nd human West Nile virus case
Health officials have confirmed the second human case of West Nile virus in Yuba-Sutter this year to date.
A Sutter County man is improving after he was diagnosed with the serious, neuroinvasive form of the illness, Sutter County Public Health announced today.
As the number of cases grows, residents need to remain vigialnt to protect themselves from mosquito bites as the risk is clearly present in the community, said Dr. Lou Anne Cummings.
A Sutter County woman was reported as the first human case in the area on Aug. 17 and was said to be recovering at home.
An update on her condition was not available, and the county does not release any additional details about victims, citing privacy.
Yuba County has not yet had a human case this year.
