Joint city, county gang task force unveiled

Unit will combine 10 officers from four agencies

Sutter County and Yuba City officials said today that they are starting a new task force Wednesday to fight gang crime.

The task force was unveiled at a press conference just outside the Sutter County Courthouse.

"This is a step that has been a long time in coming, but it's also a step that is very important to us in light of recent events in the community," said District Attorney Carl Adams.

By shifting county and city officers and using the current NET-5 drug task force administrative capacity, officials said the task force will be up and running Wednesday morning.

The task force will combine 10 officers from the district attorney's, probation, sheriff's and police departments.

Check back online for more details or pick up Wednesday's Appeal-Democrat.
