Victims in Yuba City double shooting identified
Police identified a father and son as the victims in Wednesday's double shooting in northeast Yuba City.
No arrests have been made.
Gurpal Thiara and his son, Perveer Thiara, were both shot in their upper bodies around 2:50 a.m. in front of their home in the 800 block of Oxford Court, Sgt. Brian Baker said. Their injuries were not life threatening, police said.
Few details have been released.
"We're still investigating the motive and identity of the suspect or suspects," Baker said Thursday.
Citing a need to protect the developing investigation, Baker declined to comment on any potential motives or the type of weapon or weapons involved in the attack.
Officers said on Thursday it was still too early to rule out any possibilities, including a potential gang connection.
Both men were taken to Rideout Regional Medical Center in Marysville.
Gurpal Thiara, 49, was listed in stable condition Thursday afternoon. Perveer Thiara, 18, was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Yuba City Police Department at 822-4660.
