Three men arrested for torching car, fraud

Three men were arrested and charged with arson, conspiracy and filing a false insurance claim after a car was found burning in an orchard near Live Oak.

Sutter County Sheriff's Department deputies responded at 9:30 p.m. Saturday after reports of a fire in the orchard near Encinal and Larkin roads. A pickup was seen speeding away, said department spokeswoman Brenda Baker.

Deputies stopped the truck and arrested three suspects: Prince Singh Sohal, 22, of Fresno; Kenwar Jeet Singh, 19, of Antioch; and Inderjit Singh Purewal, 20, of the 1000 block of Twins Way, Yuba City.

The burned car was a 2006 Mazda sedan. Baker declined to identify the owner, saying the crime is still under investigation.

All three suspects were booked into Sutter County Jail, then released on bail. They are scheduled to be arraigned Dec. 8 in Sutter County Superior Court.
