Marysville
Senate forum on A-D site tonight
A political forum with former Assemblymen Rick Keene and Doug LaMalfa, who are competing for the state Senate District 4 seat, is from 6:30-8 p.m. today at the Yuba County Government Center, 915 Eighth St., in Marysville.
Doors open at 6 p.m.
The Candidates Forum Series event, the first of five candidates nights leading up to the June 8 primary, is sponsored by the Appeal-Democrat in partnership with KUBA Radio, the Yuba-Sutter Chamber of Commerce and the North Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
Each of the forums will be livestreamed by the Appeal-Democrat on its Web site, www.appealdemocrat.com and can be heard on KUBA Radio at AM1600 or FM 95.5.
In addition, viewers can submit questions to the candidates by logging on to the A-D's live blog.
Additional forums for local and state offices are slated March 25, April 14 and May 6 and 27.
Yuba City
Vietnam vet day slated March 22
"Welcome Home" Vietnam Veterans Day will be March 22 at the Veterans Hall, 1425 Veterans Memorial Drive, Yuba City.
Set from 6-8 p.m., the celebration features keynote speaker Assemblyman Paul Cook, retired Marine colonel and co-author of the Welcome Home Veterans Day Bill.Veterans are invited to wear their era's uniforms and ribbons. For more information, call Ray Bull at 673-1736 or 218-0938.
Sutter County
Food distribution dates announced
Distribution dates are scheduled for the Sutter County Brown Bag program for Sutter County residents.
They are:
• March 17 — 8:30-11 a.m. at the Yuba-Sutter Gleaners warehouse, 760 Stafford Way, Yuba City.
• March 23 — 8:30-11 a.m. at the Sutter Youth Organization building, corner of Acacia Avenue and Butte House Road, Sutter.
• March 24 — 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the Live Oak Community Center, 10200 O St., Live Oak.

GRIDLEY
New No. 2 for police force
A 15-year law enforcement veteran will become the second-in-command next month in the Gridley-Biggs Police Department.
Sgt. Dean Price will take over as assistant police chief April 1, the department announced Wednesday. He will succeed Brian Cook, who is retiring after three decades with the agency.
