100 years

In compliance with the saloon ordinance recently passed by the City Council, which compels all the saloons of Marysville to close at 8 o'clock, the local thirst emporiums were dark and dreary as the grave after that appointed hour. There were no sounds of laughter or clinking of glasses emerging from these places and all those desiring to have a little "smile" either boarded a street car for Yuba City or sought their coveted bottle at home.

50 years

Two Yuba County boys were injured, one critically, when high winds sent a large oak tree crashing through the roof of a garage in which they were working.

High water in the Feather River at Oroville flooded three construction sites connected with the Oroville Dam and caused "several hundred thousand dollars damage."

25 years

The Marysville City Council were told the now-vacant and dilapidated Marysville Hotel is in the process of being sold. But, as they have heard many times in the past, they were reminded that if the city wants the almost 60-year-old hotel renovated it needs to help come up with low-interest financing.

10 years

Developers of five parcels of land totaling 670 acres along Algodon Road and Highway 70 in Yuba County have been annexed into the Olivehurst Public Utility District.

5 years

Yuba College's estimated 10,000 students can now stay hooked to the Internet outside their classrooms. The two-year college announced the rollout of its wireless Internet, or Wi-Fi, network. Service began after two weeks of installation.
