UPDATE: Motorcyclist killed in Yuba foothills crash
A 23-year-old motorcyclist from Nebraska was killed Thursday in east Yuba County when he collided head-on with a car, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred about 7:20 p.m. on Highway 49 south of Marysville Road. The Yuba County Sheriff's Department identifed the victim as Nathan Halouska. His name was not released until family members in Elwood, Neb. were notified.
Halouska was traveling south through a curve on a 2009 Yamaha at an unknown rate of speed when he crossed the double-yellow centerlines and hit a northbound 2001 Subaru car driven by 68-year-old Peter Cerles of North San Juan.
Halouska was ejected and hit the car's windshield. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Camptonville Fire Department firefighters, the Grass Valley office of the CHP said.
Cerles and his passenger, 56-year-old Ann Belinda Stone of North San Juan, were not injured.
