Briefs: Trial set in 2009 bank robbery
"The man in the green hat" in the July 2009 robbery of Yuba City's Bank of America branch was held to answer Thursday in Sutter County Superior Court on robbery charges.
Brian Christopher Breeler allegedly jumped the counter and emptied cash boxes while Aaron Christopher Watts held employees and customers at bay with a handgun.
Breeler's identity was unknown until one of the other six defendants cut a deal with the District Attorney's Office and identified him, said Assistant District Attorney Jana McClung.
Judge Brian Aronson set a Nov. 1 trial date for Breeler.
Yuba County
Ordinance keeps zoning codes
On a 5-0 vote Tuesday, the Yuba County Board of Supervisors extended an interim ordinance for keeping its zoning codes and recently adopted General Plan in sync for the next 10 months.
The county is beginning a process to overhaul its zoning, but an ordinance is needed in the meantime to keep planning projects in compliance with the General Plan, said Community Services and Development Director Kevin Mallen.
Supervisor Andy Vasquez said he wanted there to be extensive public participation in the zoning update. Mallen said the process was set up for that to happen.
