Briefs: Bill to pay more taxes advances
State Sen. Doug LaMalfa's bill to challenge those who say they'd pay more state taxes to actually do it has moved out of the Senate Appropriations Committee on a bipartisan vote.
Senate Bill X1 3 would add a line to state tax forms where payers can donate additional taxes to the state if they want to. LaMalfa, R-Richvale, said in a press release he sponsored the bill in response to claims state residents would be willing to pay more taxes.
"We should make it as simple as possible for folks who wish to donate additional taxes," LaMalfa said.
