Yuba County man accused of raping teenager
A Yuba County man accused of raping a teenage girl was arrested late Thursday.
George Vincent Gamboa III was booked into the Yuba County Jail on suspicion of rape.
Gamboa, 26, acknowledged having sex with the girl, described as being in her late teens, but claimed the sex was consensual and said he thought the teenager was an adult, Yuba County sheriff's Lt. Shaun Smith said.
The victim told deputies Gamboa came over to her house Thursday evening and forced her to have intercourse, Smith said.
"Immediately following the act, Gamboa returned to his residence, where deputies later located and took him to the (sheriff's) office," Sheriff Steve Durfor said in a statement.
Sheriff's deputies were called to the victim's home just before 11 p.m. Thursday.
Gamboa was arrested at his home in the 1700 block of Kenwood Drive.
He was still in custody Friday morning. Bail was set at $100,000.
