Briefs: River Valley Turkey Trot set for Nov. 17

The fifth annual Turkey Trot 5K fun run, to benefit Hands of Hope, is set Nov. 17 starting at River Valley High School in Yuba City.

Hands of Hope assists homeless in the Yuba-Sutter area.

The event starts at 8 a.m.

Fees are $20 for adult and $8 for child, due by Nov. 10; or $25, adult, and $10, child, afterward.

Toy drive applications ready

The Salvation Army is accepting applications for the 2012 Chips for Kids toy drive, available to families in need of assistance with children age infant to 17 years.

The toy drive is sponsored by the Yuba-Sutter office of the California Highway Patrol.

Applications to get on the waiting list for the service can be picked up at the Salvation Army office, 401 Del Norte Ave. in Yuba City.

The program is first come, first served and completed applications are necessary.

Donations will be accepted starting Nov. 5 at the CHP office, 1619 Poole Blvd., Yuba City.

Buying photos made easier

To purchase a photo from one of our staff photographers, simply click on the "Enlarge" link or on the photo itself to display it in full size and then click on the "Buy Photo" link below the photo.

From there, you'll be given a choice of a variety of photos sizes. Photos can also be placed on products such as coffee mugs and T-shirts.
