Briefs: Street closed for festival
Yuba City
Plumas Street, from Forbes Avenue to Center Street in downtown Yuba City, is closed to traffic from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday for the California Beer and Wine Festival.
The event, from 1-5 p.m., is organized by the Hoagland Heart Organization.
The street closure was announced by the Yuba City Police Department Traffic Education and Enforcement Unit.
SUTTER BUTTES
Geology trek slated Sunday
A geology trek through the Sutter Buttes, starting at Dean Ranch, is among several hikes scheduled in the fall by the Middle Mountain Foundation.
The challenging 4- to 6-mile hike is set Sunday, with a cost of $35.
Participants are advised to bring food and water.

Monte Carlo Night on Nov. 3
The seventh Annual Monte Carlo Night, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Yuba City, is set with professional dealers and 28 gaming tables.
The fundraiser starts at 6 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Veterans Memorial Building, 1425 Veterans Memorial Circle, Yuba City.
