Briefs: Scarysville event scheduled Oct. 31 in Marysville
A haunted house, costume parade and contest, games, a haunted bakery and piles of Halloween candy are featured in the Scarysville Halloween Festival planned around downtown Marysville.
The annual event is scheduled from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Oct. 31 on D Street and surrounding streets.
The festival is sponsored by the Marysville Business Improvement District and the city of Marysville.
Tobacco cessation classes offered by Yuba County
Connecting to Quit, tobacco cessation classes, are being offered by the Yuba County Tobacco Education program.
The one-hour sessions are set at noon Oct. 30 and Nov. 1, 6, 8, 13 and 15 at Yuba County Health and Human Services, 5730 Packard Ave., Suite 100, Linda.
All sessions are free; attendance to all sessions is recommended. To register, call 749-6366.
'Messiah' solo auditions Monday with Yuba Sutter Symphony
Solo auditions for the Yuba Sutter Symphony's performance of "Messiah" are scheduled at 8 p.m. Monday in the Yuba City High School band room at Clark Avenue and B Street.
Rehearsals are every Monday night at 7 p.m., also in the band room, through Nov. 26.
The performance is scheduled at 7 p.m. Nov. 30 at St. Isidore Church in Yuba City.
The chorus is directed by Linda Robinson, with the symphony conducted by Corey Kersting.
Marysville veterans parade forms due Friday
Entry forms are due by Friday for the 10th annual Yuba-Sutter Veterans Day Parade in downtown Marysville. The parade is slated at 11 a.m. Nov. 11.
Entry forms can be found online at the Yuba-Sutter Veterans Day Parade Facebook page and at Marysville City Hall, 526 C St.
