Briefs: Quilt show is next weekend in Brownsville
The 11th annual Brownsville Mountain Quilt Guild show is next weekend, featuring a variety of quilts and vendors.
The event is planned 10 a.m. -4 p.m. Nov. 3 and 10 a.m. -3 p.m. Nov. 4. at the Ponderosa Community Center, 17193 Ponderosa Way.
Raffles and prizes are part of the event and small quilts will be given away to community service groups, including fire and sheriff departments, hospice and women's groups and veterans.

Monte Carlo night is Nov. 3
The seventh annual Monte Carlo Night, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Yuba City is scheduled for 6 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Veterans Memorial Building, 1425 Veterans Memorial Circle, Yuba City.
With professional dealers on 28 gaming tables, the fundraiser also features a raffle, silent auction, and music by Uno Mundo.
Tickets are $35 each, available in advance by calling Katrina Barrette at 674-5996 or through any member of the Yuba City Kiwanis Club.
Breakfast launches kettle fund drives
The Salvation Army is hosting a Kettle Kickoff Breakfast to signal the start of its red kettle fund drives during the holiday season.
Breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m. Nov. 7, at the Refuge Restaurant, 1501 Butte House Road, Yuba City.
Tickets are $20 per person.
Belle, the kettle drive mascot will make an appearance for photos.
The Salvation Army is a nonprofit that serves more than 9,000 people in Yuba-Sutter.
