Briefs: Live Oak food distribution set for Wednesday
The Live Oak Community Center is the last site in November for the Yuba-Sutter Gleaners Food Bank US Department of Agriculture food distribution.
Recipients with a Yuba-Sutter Gleaners USDA distribution card can pick up donations from 8:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at 10200 O St., Live Oak.

Streets closed for 5K run/walk
Parts of the streets around River Valley High School will be closed to traffic on Saturday morning for the Hands of Hope annual Turkey Trot 5K run/walk in Yuba City.
Streets will be closed from 8:30 a.m.-11 a.m. for the event that starts and end at the River Valley High School parking lot near Harter Parkway, south of Colusa Highway.
Streets affected also include Redhaven Avenue, Carson Drive, Andross Avenue, Ross Drive, Tharp Road, Deerfield Drive, Willowbrook Drive, Zachary Way and Lassen Boulevard.

Turkey Bingo Night is Thursday
Turkey Bingo Night, sponsored by the Live Oak Lions Club, is set 7 p.m.-9 p.m. Thursday at the Live Oak Community Building, 10200 O St., Live Oak.
Doors open at 5 p.m.
The cost is $12 for six cards and $1 for three extra cards. Prizes include turkeys and other items for Thanksgiving.
Money raised goes to the club's community and service programs including Little League, the Easter egg hunt and Diabetes Camp.

Speaker set for men's breakfast
Allan Jones is the guest speaker at the next meeting of the Business Men's Fellowship.
The meeting, including a no-host breakfast, begins at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at Perko's Cafe, 724 W. Onstott Road, Yuba City.
Jones, of Wigan, England, is a physicist who has worked as a researcher and developer. He has also taught physics, mathematics and sports.

Turkey dinners at senior centers
A turkey dinner will be served Friday at the senior centers in the community.
The dinner, served at 11:45 a.m., includes homemade stuffing, green peas and whole wheat rolls.
Senior centers in the community will be closed Nov. 22-23 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Requested donations are $2.50 for ages 60 years and over and $5 for people under 60 years.
Lunch is regularly served at 11:45 a.m. Monday to Friday at the various senior centers including Live Oak, Wheatland, Olivehurst, Yuba City and Gridley.

Group distributing food to families
Early Risers Kiwanis of Yuba City is hosting Operation Accion de Gracias, Spanish for Thanksgiving Day, to distribute food to farm workers and needy families for the holiday.
Distribution begins at 7 a.m. Wednesday at River Valley High School, 801 El Margarita Road, Yuba City.
Traditional Thanksgiving Day dinners will be given to families on a first come, first serve basis.

Library hosts film screening
Yuba County Library will show a portion of the HBO movie "The Weight of the Nation" from 3 p.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday at the library, 303 Second St., Marysville.
The movie, which is also presented by Yuba County Health and Human Services, focuses on the obesity epidemic in the US, its root causes and what is being done to address it.
A county health education specialist will host the film, and the screening will include healthy food tasting and free goodies. The event is free but registration is required. To register, call 749-7380.
