Briefs: Christmas event set for Saturday
Forbestown
A Hometown Christmas celebration is set for Saturday at the Forbestown Museum, 19096 New York Flat Rd.
Festivities are from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. with free admission.
The town will be transformed into a replica of a gold town, with Christmas carolers, Victorian costumes and a visit from Father Christmas.

Two video series remain at center
There are two series left for Masterpieces of the Imaginative Mind free educational videos at the Lee Burrows Center for the Arts.
Movies are scheduled from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. Tuesdays at 630 E St., Marysville.
This Tuesday, videos include science fiction and religion; Ray Bradbury, "The American Myth;" and Robert A. Heinlein, "He Mapped the Future."
The last videos to be screened on Dec. 4 include Asimov and Clarke, "Cousins in Utopia;" Ursula K. Le Guin; and cyberpunk, postmodernism, and beyond. For more information, call 742-2787.

'Messiah' on stage on Nov. 30
Yuba-Sutter Oratario Society will present its 74th annual performance of Handel's "Messiah" at 7 p.m. Nov. 30 at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 222 Clark Ave., Yuba City.
The performance is conducted by Corey Kersting, with the chorus directed by Linda Robinson. Admission is free, with donations accepted.

Santa Claus can come to your event
Santa Claus is available to make an appearance for the, provided by the Yuba City Parks and Recreation Department.
Santa can be rented for a half-hour appearance Dec. 1- Dec. 23 for $75; or Dec. 24 for $150.

Food donations sought by ministry
With the Thanksgiving holiday over, A Hand Up Ministry is continuing to collect food donations to feed the homeless for the Christmas holiday.
Food such as turkey, ham and dinner trimmings or gifts of camp gear and warm clothing are sought to distribute to those in need.
A service and meal is planned from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Dec. 22 at the River Bottoms Church, 1297 Market St., Yuba City.

Planning for stroll under way
Plans are under way for the annual Christmas Stroll in downtown Yuba City.
Applications for local vendors are due today and can be found online at yubacitydowntown.com or at the Yuba City Downtown Business Association, 439 Center St., Suite 201, Yuba City.
With the theme of Cowboy Christmas, the event features a Christmas lighting ceremony, photos with Santa and music.

Christmas Parade set for Dec. 1
Plans are under way for the annual Marysville Christmas Parade along D Street.
The parade starts at 5 p.m. Dec. 1 at Sixth and D streets in downtown Marysville.
With the theme of Home for Christmas, the event includes music and floats made by the local community.

Museum selling gala tickets
The Community Memorial Museum of Sutter County is selling tickets for the annual Trees and Traditions fundraiser gala.
The event is scheduled from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Dec. 1 at the museum, 1333 Butte House Road, Yuba City.
With music performed by the MARKS Ensemble, hors d'oeuvres and dessert will be served with wine and champagne.
The event also features a silent and live auction.
Tickets are $45 per person.
