Briefs: Colusa sheriff holding community meetings

Colusa County residents are invited to attend community meetings hosted by Sheriff Scott Marshall.

The meetings are to help the Sheriff's Department better understand and address problems affecting residents.

Meetings, all at 6:30 p.m., include:

March 28: Arbuckle Fire Department.

April 4: Grimes Scout Cabin.

April 18: Williams City Hall.

April 25: Sacramento River Fire Department, Colusa station.

Ribbon-cutting planned Friday

A ribbon-cutting celebration for the opening of the Schnabel and Dean Patio is set for 2 p.m. Friday at the Community Memorial Museum of Sutter County, 1333 Butte House Road, Yuba City.

Co-hosted by the Sutter Buttes Garden Club, the patio landscaping was a project undertaken by the club with funds donated by the Schnabel family to honor Randolph A. and Shirley Dean Schnabel.

Admission is free.

Transit routes detoured for parade

Yuba-Sutter Transit's regular routes will be detoured Saturday for the 133rd annual Bok Kai Parade in downtown Marysville.

Eastbound route 1 and counter-clockwise route 4B will detour to stop at Third and F streets; and westbound route 1 and clockwise route 4A will stop at Third and H streets.

Regular service will continue Monday.

Fundraiser benefits brain injury group

Sutter Medical Foundation Brain Injury Support Group is hosting a Walk for Brain Injury fundraiser at 11 a.m. Saturday at Yuba City High School, 850 B St., Yuba City.

Check-in begins at 10 a.m.

Cost is $30 per person and $20 for students or people with brain injuries. Cost increases $5 for race day registration.

All proceeds to benefit the Brain Injury Association of California.

Gleaners set food distribution dates

Food distribution through the Yuba-Sutter Gleaners Food Bank program are set to start Monday.

Dates and places include:

Monday — Yuba City Moose Lodge, 205 S. Walton Ave.

March 22 — Veterans of Foreign Wars hall, 4956 Powerline Road, Olivehurst.

March 25 — Yuba-Sutter Gleaners Warehouse, 760 Stafford Way; and Richland Housing, Hans Miller Building, 420 Miles Ave., both in Yuba City.

March 26 — Wheatland Senior Center, 705 3rd St., Wheatland; Sutter Youth Organization, 7740 Butte House Road, Sutter; and South Sutter Recreational Association building on Palm Street, East Nicolaus.

March 27 — Live Oak Community Center, 10200 O St.

March 28 — American Legion Post 807, 5477 Feather River Blvd., Linda; and First Presbyterian Church, Sampson Street and Rideout Way, Marysville.

Artists reception is March 22

"Spring Quartet" featuring the work of four artists will be on display March 21-April 19 at the Yuba-Sutter Regional Arts Council Gallery, 624 E St., Marysville.

Artists include Jo Anderson, Carol Keesling, Sherry Hoon and Jan Frink.

An artists' reception will be held from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. March 22. Admission is free with light refreshments served.

Regular gallery hours are noon-4 p.m. Tuesday-Friday; and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday.

Topic planned for business breakfast

"State of the Cities" is the topic of discussion for the next Business Connection Breakfast.

Breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m. March 22 at the Hillcrest Plaza, in Plaza Room, 210 Julie Dr., Yuba City.

Guest speakers will be mayors from Marysville, Yuba City, Live Oak and Wheatland.

Sponsored by the Yuba-Sutter Chamber of Commerce, cost is $20 for members and $40 for non-members.

Cost increases $5 for reservations made after March 20.
