Alcohol sting nets 3 clerks
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Clerks at three convenience stores in Linda and Olivehurst were arrested for selling alcohol to minors posing as customers, Marysville police said Monday.
Clerks at 10 other stores refused to sell alcohol to the minors during the deployment by the Minor Decoy Enforcement Task Force, said police Sgt. John Osbourn.
Arrested Saturday were Yawar Latir Naveed, 27, of Yuba City at the Lally Food Mart, 1900 North Beale Road; Vang Mee Tao, 23, of Rio Linda at the Quick N Save Market, 1700 North Beale Road; and Parmjit Singh, 22, of Yuba City at the Sierra Super Stop in the 5000 block of Olivehurst Avenue.
All the men were cited and released and ordered to appear in court.
Besides Marysville, officers from the Wheatland Police Department, deputies from the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department and investigators from the state Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control’s Yuba City district office participated in the operation, which was funded by the ABC Grant Assistance Program.
The grant program will fund operations in Marysville, Wheatland and unincorporated areas of Yuba County until June 2008. The task force also targets adults who buy alcohol for minors as well as underage drinkers on public and private land, said Osbourn.
