Yuba City

Court date for threats suspect

A Feb. 2 arraignment is scheduled in Sutter County Superior Court for a Yuba City man arrested on suspicion of making death threats at the Sikh Temple on Tierra Buena Road.

After the Sunday incident, bail was set at $50,000 for Mohinder Singh Nijjer, 63, of the 800 block of Karnail Court. He was no longer being held Monday, according to Sutter County Jail records.

Nijjer allegedly pulled a folding knife during an argument, then went outside and called another person on the phone, telling him to come outside so he could be shot.

HOMELESS SHELTER?
Yuba City is considering using the former fire station No. 4 on Walton Avenue as a cold-weather shelter for homeless families. Is this a good idea?
Yes. We've gone too long with limited options for homeless families.
It's a good idea, but the fire station is a bad location for this.
No. The city has better things they can use the building for.
I'm not sure.
