Aanestad honored for business vote
State Sen. Sam Aanestad, who is seeking the GOP nomination to run for lieutenant governor, has been honored by the National Federation of Independent Business' California chapter for a 100-percent voting record in favor of small businesses.
The federation scored legislators based on how they voted on 11 bills during the 2009 legislative session. Aanestad, R-Penn Valley, voted in favor of or against every bill in a fashion that would benefit small businesses, according to a release from the federation.
Aanestad, who is termed out of the state Senate this year, was one of 12 state senators, all Republicans, who received perfect scores. Sen. Abel Maldonado, Aanestad's likely opponent in the June 8 GOP primary for lieutenant governor, had a rating of 86 percent.
