Linda
Directory now available
A new directory of Linda businesses, public services and other institutions is being distributed across the Yuba County community.
Created by Linda-area Supervisor Andy Vasquez, the directory includes the history of Linda, local emergency numbers and information on events and projects. Among the events is a classic car charity cruise for July 4, along with an evening laser show that day.
Several Linda-area business underwrote the directory's cost by buying ads. The directory will be available for free at stores and businesses across Linda.

Fundraiser set for Paras
A meet and greet is set tonight for Horacio Paras, candidate for Sutter County supervisor, District 3.
The fundraiser is from 5:30-7 p.m. at Joe's Mexican Grill, 1974 Acacia Ave., Sutter.

Live Oak
Rep. Herger to receive award
Rep. Wally Herger, R-Chico, will accept an award Thursday in Live Oak for his consistent defense of traditional marriages and families in California.
Herger will receive the award from the California Healthy Marriages Coalition and the Yuba-Sutter Health Marriage Project, whose representatives will give Herger the award at 6:30 p.m. at the Church of Glad Tidings Education Building 500, 1179 Eager Road, Yuba City.
Both groups advocate for keeping and maintaining marriages and avoiding divorce and family breakups. The two groups will highlight how Herger's work has helped their cause.

Focus on food in children's program
"All You Can Eat: Food Means Sharing," with Aondreaa the Storytailor, is featured at the spring vacation children's program at the Community Memorial Museum of Sutter County.
The free event, at 10:30 a.m. April 9, includes violin music, colorful costumes and props and one story told in English and Spanish. Refreshments will be served afterward.

DUI checkpoint scheduled Friday
The central portion of Yuba City is the site of a DUI/driver's license checkpoint Friday night conducted by the Yuba City Police Department.
The checkpoint is from 6 p.m. to midnight.

Midwifery program gets new home
The Fremont-Rideout Health Group is transferring its Great Beginnings Midwifery Program to Del Norte Clinics Inc.'s Family Health Clinic, 935-A Market St., Yuba City, starting Thursday.
The program for expectant mothers features care starting with confirmation of pregnancy through labor, deliver and follow-up.

The Yuba-Sutter Economic Development Corp. and Yuba-Sutter Business Consortium will give Yuba City businesses resources and guidance on how to grow and prosper, at a seminar scheduled for April 22 in Yuba City.
At the seminar, fifth in a series of six presented by the two groups, organizers will focus on business attraction, workforce development, business finance, tax credits and local incentives and other topics. The seminar is free.
The seminar is from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., with breakfast provided, at the Sutter View Event Center at 1939 Acacia Ave., Yuba City.

Beale Air Force Base
Global Hawk mission delayed
A nontraining Global Hawk mission into Canadian airspace planned Tuesday at Beale Air Force Base was postponed for undisclosed reasons, base officials said.
The unmanned aerial reconnaissance aircraft, based at Beale, was scheduled to fly to a forward operating location in Canada to support operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.
It was to be the first nontraining Global Hawk flight in Candian airspace.
It was the second time the flight was postponed after being initially scheduled last week.
Global Hawk is a high-altitude, long-endurance unmanned aircraft system with an integrated sensor suite that provides intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capability worldwide.
