Olivehurst

Funeral set for drowned toddler

Funeral services are pending for an Olivehurst toddler who drowned Monday in a backyard swimming pool.

Sara Jessica Eddings, 21 months old, was found about 9 a.m. in the pool behind her grandfather's house in the 1500 block of Tumbleweed Way, Olivehurst.

The Yuba County Sheriff's Department called the death accidental.

Services will be held at Lipp and Sullivan Chapel in Marysville.

Gridley

Be part of Red Suspenders Day

Applications are being accepted for the Annual Red Suspenders Day in Gridley, sponsored by the Gridley Area Chamber of Commerce.

The celebration will be held from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 17.

Activities planned include a parade at 11 a.m., with bed races, a pinewood derby and a car show, as well as arts, crafts and food vendors.

New events include a pie baking contest and a pie eating contest.

Yuba City

GOP candidates night planned

Republican candidates for positions serving Yuba and Sutter counties will be featured in a Candidates Night at the Plaza Room in Hillcrest Plaza on April 17, sponsored by the Sutter County Republican Women Federated.

The program begins with a social time at 6 p.m., with dinner served at 6:30 p.m. at 210 Julie Drive in Yuba City.

Candidates will range from county supervisor to U.S. Representative 2nd District.

Tickets are $25 per person and include dinner. For reservations, call 671-7397.

Yuba Foothills

Food distribution sites named

The monthly food distribution in the Yuba County foothills, under the direction of the Yuba-Sutter Gleaners, is scheduled April 17 at several locations.

Distribution sites and times include:

• Brownsville — 8 to 11 a.m. at the old Grange Hall, 8408 La Porte Road.

• Loma Rica — 9 to 11 a.m. at the Loma Rica Community Center, 11234 Loma Rica Road.

• Dobbins — 8 to 10:30 a.m. at Lake Francis Grange, 10775 Texas Hill Road; for residents of Oregon House, Dobbins and Camptonville.

Marysville

Ganz concert tickets on sale

Tickets are available to see pianist Brian Ganz at the Lee Burrows Performing Arts Center, 624 E St. in Marysville.

He will perform at 7 p.m. April 12, presented by Apollo Arts.

Tickets are $20, general; $15 for students and seniors; and $35 for the first two rows.
