Monument marks Macy’s in Marysville
Bob Barkhouse of Yuba City stands at the site of the Macy's general merchandise store near First and D streets in Marysville. The Native Sons of the Golden West, Sutter Parlor 261, placed an inscribed Yuba Blue Boulder as a marker to recognize the Macy's store that opened in Marysville in 1850.

Monument marks Macy’s in Marysville.
They came with gold to drink and dine when Marysville was the commercial king — before Yuba City became the business center — and where the Macy brothers began a general merchandise store in 1850 near what's now the closed Mervyn's.
