YEAR IN REVIEW PHOTO: Standoff ends at truck stop
A six-hour stand-off on June 22 between law enforcement and 51-year-old Larry Brian Wilson at Love's Truck Stop in Corning ended with Wilson's arrest. The ordeal started around 3 p.m. when a California Highway Patrol officer noticed a Conquest Gulf Stream recreational vehicle reported stolen was parked in the truck stop's big rig parking lot at South Avenue and Highway 99W. Wilson, who was inside the vehicle, was armed with a loaded .22 caliber rifle and refused to come out and give himself up to law enforcement. After failed negotiations, the Tehama County Interagency SWAT team placed two rounds of CX gas into the vehicle around 9:45 p.m. Seconds later, Wilson, unarmed, stepped out of the vehicle's side door. The loaded weapon was later located inside the recreational vehicle by law enforcement. The gun and vehicle were reported stolen from Wilson's ex-wife's home in the El Camino area of Tehama County on June 16. Wilson was booked into the Tehama County Jail on suspicion of vehicle theft and obstructing a police officer.
