Foothills fire gobbles up acreage

The Sixteen Complex Fire has burned more than 7,200 acres in Colusa County and fire crews have struggled to contain the blaze as burns across grasslands and woodlands in the Cortina Rancheria area of western Colusa County. As of late Thursday afternoon, the fire was considered 10 percent contained, CalFire reported.

A fire that doubled in size from Wednesday to Thursday in the foothills southwest of Williams added another 5,000 acres overnight into Friday.
Still, CalFire officials reported they made significant gains in developing firebreaks and containment lines, and expect to have the fire fully co.
