Higher sales tax now in effect
Nancy and Patrick Montgomery, both of Colusa, shop for kitchenwares at Messick Hardware in Colusa on Monday. As of Tuesday, sales tax increased by one-quarter of a cent, or one penny for every $4 spent. Merchants do not seem to think the Proposition 30 increase will have an impact on sales.
