Submit a Classroom Note

Educators, Parents and Students:

We invite you to submit short news items for Classroom Notes, which run Thursdays in the Education section of the Appeal-Democrat.

Because we get news from dozens of schools, please keep your item to 200 words or less. Important: Classroom Notes appear on a space-available basis, so publication is not guaranteed.

What works well: News about school-wide programs or accomplishments, student council elections/activities, special events (carnivals, fundraisers, Red Ribbon Week, etc.), scholarships, awards for a limited number of students, club events, season-end sports summaries.

What to avoid: Routine curriculum, activities and field trips ("Our first-graders are studying letters"), awards given to large numbers of students, superlatives ("Our kids are so great!," "Buy your year books now!") and long lists of names or dates.

Submit your Classroom Notes online using the form below. You may also send items to Classroom Notes, P.O. Box 431, Marysville, CA 95901, or fax them to 530-741-0140. Deadline is 10:30 a.m. Monday for publication Thursday. If you have any questions, please e-mail Features Editor Susan Benitez at sbenitez@appealdemocrat.com or call her at 749-4775.

We also welcome:
