Both Barry Elementary School flag football teams closed in on league titles, after wins Thursday.

The eighth grade squad clinched the championship with a 34-6 whitewash of Anna McKenney.

Caleb Scrivner scored three touchdowns for Barry (7-1-1 overall, 6-0 league). One came off an interception of a tipped ball by Tylor Damron. Another came off a 48-yard kick return and the third came off a pass reception from Taylor Elkins.

Ryan Gardner scored one touchdown off a run and added two extra points. Nick Stevens had an interception return for a TD.

Chris Oliver was the defensive leader with 10 flag pulls and three sacks.

The offensive and defensive line, consisting of Delaney Farley, Noel Zachariah, Nick McCollum, Jimmy Mann, Jae Ferriera and Paul Bains played well.

Barry's seventh grade team (5-3-1, 3-1-1) edged Andros Karperos, 7-6, to earn a possible share of the league title. Brian Luke scored the lone Barry touchdown on a pass from Chandler Wilkerson, and Timmy Tran added the extra point off a Randy Gill pass.

Bhavin Dale led Barry's defense with 8 flag pulls, one of which came when he combined with Luke on AK's extra point attempt. Gill ended AK's final desperation pass with an interception to seal the win. Mikey Helwig contributed 2 sacks.

Both Barry teams play their final games of the season Thursday in a nonleague matchup at Franklin Elementary in Yuba City. The seventh grade game is at 3:30 p. m. followed by the eighth grade tilt at 4:30 p.m.
