Prep Roundup: Faith's Hall nets six goals

Sara Hall couldn't stop finding the back of the net.

The Faith Christian High senior striker scored six goals on Friday as the Lions girls soccer team rolled Woodland Christian 7-3 on the road.

Lacy Bicknell scored Faith's other goal and Hall added the assist.

Corrisa Olmstead, Morgan Trimble, Liz Andrus and Lauren Heinrich all played well defensively for Faith (5-6-1).

BASEBALL

Yuba City 12, Inderkum 10

A big day at the plate helped hold off the Tigers in a Tri-County Conference road win. The Honkers smacked 16 hits with Christian Divelbiss going 3 for 5 with a triple and three RBIs.

Blake Parks was 2 for 2 with a double, Robbie Kunkle was 3 for 5 with two RBIs and Raul Lozano went 3 for 3.

Mark Schoel was 2 for 4 with two RBIs for Yuba City (9-2, 6-0), which swept the three-game series.

Sutter 10, Orland 3

Dylan Russell tossed a complete-game four-hitter and went 3 for 4 with a home run, double and three RBIs at the plate to lead the Huskies to a Butte View League victory at Orland.

Morgan Osgood was 2 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs, Phillip Robledo hit a triple and Lucas Hensley added a double for Sutter (8-2, 3-1), which saw all nine starters record at least one hit.

Bear River 5, Marysville 2

Davis Walker struck out seven in 5 2/3 innings of work and Blake Freechtle went 2 for 3 with a double in the nonleague loss for the Indians (7-4).

Maxwell 10, University Prep 0

Steven Perry threw his third no-hitter of the season and went 2 for 3 with a double as the Panthers improved to 15-0 on the year with the home win.

James Bowen was 3 for 4 with a double and Tyler Wells was 3 for 3 with a double for Maxwell.

Trinity Prep 10, Faith Christian 5

Chris Harmon was 1 for 2 with a double and three runs in the home loss for Faith (0-7, 0-4).

SOFTBALL

Marysville 10, Mesa Verde 2

Ashten Welch allowed two hits and struck out eight in six dominant innings and Morgan Welch finished 2 for 4 and drove in three runs to lead the Indians to a Golden Empire League win over Mesa Verde at home.

Tressa Arostegui went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs and Marissa Clavelle added a double in the win for Marysville (7-4, 4-1).

Wheatland 7, Gridley 3

Freshman Tara McIntyre and sophomore Randi May both went 3 for 4 and the Pirates smacked 14 hits to improve to 7-0 in the Butte View League at home.

Maggie Ulman and Kirstin Johnson were both 2 for 4 for Wheatland (11-6, 6-0).

Yuba City 7, Woodland 6

Anjelica Cisneros belted a three-run triple and the Honkers topped Woodland at home to improve to 3-1 in the TCC.

Shea Cooney, Breanna Trexler and Aleah Thomas were all 1 for 3 with an RBI in the win for Yuba City (12-3, 3-1).

River Valley 9, Inderkum 3

Courtney Smith tallied 14 strikeouts in the circle and went 3 for 3 at the plate in the Falcons TCC road win.

Jackie Tanner was 3 for 4 with a double and Katie Carpenter was 3 for 5 with a double for River Valley (8-2, 3-1).

Lindhrust 12, West Campus 2

Lindhurst 13, West Campus 6

Morgan Thome was 6 for 9 with four RBIs during the home doubleheader sweep for the Blazers.

Ashanti Sweezer was 2 for 3 with a home run in the opener and Ashley Halcomb was 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs in the nightcap for Lindhurst (8-7, 4-2).

TENNIS

Marysville 9, Mesa Verde 0

Armando Montejano (6-1, 6-0), Terry Prince (6-2, 6-0), Jamie Hurdt (6-2, 4-6, 6-2), and Annie Lin (6-0, 6-1) all won singles matches in the home sweep for the Indians (9-3, 7-2).

JV BASEBALL

Sutter 14, Orland 4

Trenton McDaniel was 3 for 4 and Brad Bonnenfant hit a home run in the dominant mercy-rule win for the Huskies (15-0, 4-0).
