Prep Roundup: Iskikian, Faith rout Bradshaw
Spencer Iskikian scored three goals and assisted on the fourth to help the Faith Christian boys soccer team to a 4-0 Sacramento Metropolitan Athletic League home contest over Bradshaw Christian on Thursday.
Blake Lavin scored the other goal while Blake Gaspard and Skylar Ripley added an assist each.
Robbie Farley, Joe Childers and Cameron Ripley played well defensively and Jesse Park had seven saves for the Lions (12-4, 4-2), who will head to the postseason.
New Life Chr. 1, Auburn Chr. 0
Tim Joiner scored the lone goal in the Crusaders' road victory. Carlos Lopez earned the shutout in goal and Justin Malson was credited for a good game in mid-field for New Life (5-6-2, 4-3-1).
CROSS COUNTRY
RV boys claims TCC crown
Swarnjit Boyal finished first at the Tri-County Conference meet at the Wild Wings Golf Course in Woodland, completing the 3.1-mile course in 16 minutes, 48 seconds.
Boyal's strong finish was more than enough to lead the Falcons' to the TCC title.
Also putting in strong performances for River Valley were Jacob Clayton (6th, 18:05), Nik Mehta (7th, 18:15), Andre Titus (11th, 18:22) and Amrit Boyal (12th, 18:29). There were 52 runners that started the race.
The Falcons' varsity girls team finished second to Woodland.
They were led by Leanne Jarvis (3rd, 20:38), Harkiren Everest (5th, 21:09), Kym Crosby (10th, 22:24), Carolyn McBride (18th, 24:40) and Laila Khan (22nd, 25:46).
River Valley's junior varsity boys team also won the conference title on a 2.1-mile course.
They were led by Shane Monaghan (3rd, 11:04), Andres Quijas (4th,11:18), Neel Menta (6th, 11:35), Jose Fernandez (7th, 11:47) and Shahrukh Anwer (11th, 12:03).
The Falcons' junior varsity girls also finished second to Woodland.
They were led by Victoria Sager (3rd, 14:38), Maribel Gonzalez (6th, 15:38), Sarabeth Schommer (8th, 16:14), Michelle Dewey (9th, 16:15) and Bridgit Lee (11th, 17:05).
VOLLEYBALL
Sutter 3, Orland 0
Alli Foster recorded 16 service points and 21 digs to help the Huskies to a road BVL victory and finish league play undefeated.
Sam Foster tallied 29 assists and 10 service points while Katie Olson finished with 15 digs and seven kills. Shaila Gidel had eight kills. Angela Dehaan had six kills and two blocks. Brenna McDonald had six kills for Sutter (35-9, 7-0).
The JV team won 25-15, 25-15 and the freshman team won 25-10, 25-18.
East Nicolaus 3, Esparto 0
Haley Uhland tallied 29 assists, 10 digs and seven kills to help the Spartans to a 25-8, 25-12, 25-23 victory.
Emily Toledo had 16 kills and 10 digs and Mikayla Rolufs had five kills for East Nicolaus (17-11, 3-1).
Colusa 3, Trinity 1
Caroline Meyers had 11 kills, eight blocks and four aces to lead the Redskins to a 25-17, 19-25, 26-24, 25-17 road victory. Katie Mobley tallied 10 kills and three blocks and Emily Mobley contributed 31 assists. Cheyenne Rodgers added eight aces for Colusa (15-9, 5-3).
FROSH FOOTBALL
Sutter 21, Wheatland 14
Alex Ingram tallied 184 yards on 20 carries and scored a touchdown from 14 yards out to help the Huskies to a BVL win.
Trenton McDaniel completed a 15-yard pass to Brad Bonnenfant and Hunter Minton scored from a yard out for Sutter (6-3, 2-0).
Yuba City 19, Woodland 15
Omar Herrera had 196 yards on 21 carries and three touchdowns to lift the Honkers to a TCC win.
Austin Thompson had two interceptions and Ricardo Franco picked off a Wolves pass to seal the win. Defensively, Juan Gomes played well for Yuba City (8-1, 3-1).
