LITTLE LEAGUE: Peach Bowl up against a wall

The Peach Bowl major all-star team is down, not out.

After cruising the two straight wins to open play at the Divisional tournament at Rio Linda's Westside Park, the District 2 champs fell 11-8 to District-7 champion Cosumnes River on Thursday.

Peach Bowl held an 8-1 lead through four innings before the wheels came off.

Cosumnes River scored 10 unanswered runs courtesy of several defensive miscues by Peach Bowl and moved on in the winner's bracket.

Peach Bowl is still alive though will have to fight its way back through the loser's bracket by playing two games today.

Up first is a 1 p.m. matchup with the winner of a game between Northridge and Antioch. If Peach Bowl wins, the team will play again at 5 p.m.

In Thursday's loss, Sydney Kraft, Emma Ashburn and Kayla Bailey all went 2 for 3. Ashburn and Kraft both scored two runs, while Bailey scored three times.

Ariyana Rubio had a hit and scored.

Ashburn and Kayla Lynch only allowed three earned runs from the circle.
