LITTLE LEAGUE: Peach Bowl staying alive after early setback
Earning a trip to a Little League World Series is on the line for the Peach Bowl senior softball All-Star team.
After opening the Western Regional Tournament in Montana with a loss, Peach Bowl bounced back to win a pair of games to stay alive in the tourney.
Here's the early results:
Peach Bowl 11, Arizona 5
Sarah Wirring went 2 for 4 and scored three runs and Hannah Heitman was 2 for 4 with two RBIs to lead Peach Bowl to a win over reigning Western Region champion Arizona earlier on Saturday.
Lauren Ashburn was 2 for 4 with an RBI and Courtney Bybee and Ally Reece added two hits each in the win for Peach Bowl. Savannah Besso allowed one earned run over the first four innings and Ashburn allowed an earned run over the final three frames to lead the way in the circle.
Peach Bowl 7, Oregon 3
Heitman and Reece both smacked two hits to lead Peach Bowl past Oregon in the second day of the tournament on Friday.
Jostyn Bebout and Wirring drove in two runs each, and Besso and Bebout combined to allow just one earned run in the win for Peach Bowl.
Montana 6, Peach Bowl 4
Peach Bowl led 4-3 before Montana scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to pick up a win in the opening day of the tournament on Thursday.
Ashburn was 3 for 4 with two RBIs, Kelsey Smith went 2 for 4 and drove in a run and Besso belted a double in the loss.
