YUBA ALL-Conference
49er players earn BVC honors
Yuba College football player Rony Nelson was named defensive MVP for the Bay Valley Conference and named to the BVC All-Conference team as a defensive end.
Other players named to the team were cornerback Kenny Spain, running back Marquise Dixon, tight end Kyle Thompson, offensive lineman Ledeven Kirkland, defensive end Clay Ramos, nose guard Anthony Willis, and linebackers Oscar Herrera and Josh Hutchison.
PREP league honors
Wells, Mench represent Maxwell
Maxwell High junior football player Tyler Wells was named offensive MVP and junior Derek Mench was named MVP for the defense for the Evergreen League.
Seniors Gerardo Parra and Nathan Azevedo were names to All-League. Juniors earning the honors were Aaron Wilson, Joe Davis, Steven Perry, and Kent Leber.
Indians' De Luz, Nevarez all-league
Matt De Luz and Yrvin Nevarez were selected to the Golden Empire League boys soccer All-League team.
Brian Tuttle and Robert Williamson received honorable mention for the Indians.
Barnett gets MVP honors
Zach Barnett was named Sacramento Metropolitan Athletic League MVP for Faith Christian.
Spencer Iskikian, Josh Hill and Skylar Ripley were named to the first team. Cameron Ripley was named to the second team and Robbie Farley and Josh Villasenor received honorable mention honors for the Lions.
Robert Ripley was named coach of the year for the SMAL.
Faith's Best named all-league
Danielle Best was named to the first All-League team for the Faith Christian volleyball team.
Morgan Trimble was named to the second team while Sarah Hall and Lindsay Barnett got honorable mention honors. Coach Rene Martin was named coach of the year.
Two recognized for Maxwell spikers
Laramie Vargas and Ashley Pfyl were named to the North Valley All-League volleyball team for Maxwell.
BASKETBALL
Marysville alumni game slated
The Marysville boys basketball alumni game will take place Dec. 19 at 6 p.m.
The cost is $25 to play and admission is free.
