Bartlett second in Chico

Heather Bartlett finished second in the street stock division's points race at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico.

Bartlett, who resides in Chico, was co-champion of the street stock division at Marysville Raceway Park last season. She also was second in the points race in Chico and earned rookie of the year honors.

Bartlett won her heat race and the main event in the final race of the season at Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night. The previous weekend, she and her father, Jerry Bartlett of Yuba City, competed in the street stock race at Antioch. Jerry finished second and Heather was sixth.

The Bartletts also raced Saturday in Merced.

Jerry Bartlett won the street stock main event out of 22 cards and finished fourth in his heat race. Heather Bartlett placed fourth in the main and second in her hear race.

Jerry Bartlett takes his late model race car to Bakersfield for the Western All-Star race this Saturday.

Little League

Sutter Buttes taking sign-ups

Sutter Buttes Little League is taking sign-ups for its fall ball program from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday at the ball fields on Market Street in Yuba City.

Players ages 8 to 12 are eligible. Cost is $45 per child, with a maximum of $100 for a family of three.

Sutter Area seeking players

Sutter Area Little League is taking sign-ups for fall ball at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Perry Field in Sutter.

Cost is $30. Players for all age divisions will be accepted. For information, e-mail sutterarea@hotmail.com.

Youth FootbALL

YC readies for flag football

The Yuba City Parks and Recreation Department will offer youth flag football and mighty mite football this fall at Geweke Field.

Flag football is offered for youngsters age 8 to 11 and might mite football for youth ages 4 to 7. Deadline to register is 6 p.m. Thursday. Cost is $60, and $70 for non-residents of Yuba City.

Flag football season runs Saturdays, Sept. 15 to Oct. 25, while the mighty mite seasons runs Saturdays, Sept. 20 to Oct. 18.
