Roundup: Sutter girls fall in second round
Monica Meinen scored 12 points and Jessica Moore added nine points with 15 rebounds for the Sutter High girls basketball team Thursday night, but the No. 8 seed Huskies fell to the top-seeded Corning Cardinals on the road in the second round of the Northern Section Division IV playoffs.
The Huskies were down 30-23 at halftime and then were outscored 25-17 in the second half.
“We hung with them for the first half,” said Huskies coach Dustin Ford, who was more than happy with the play of his team, which won just four games last season.
“I’m real proud of the girls.”
Sutter finished the season 11-15.

Tyler Nelson went 2-for-2 and Lucas Henskey had a triple and three RBIs to lead the Huskies to a season-opening win on the road. Caleb Parker pitched the final three innings to close out the victory for Sutter.
Tierra Buena takes title
The Tierra Buena Eagles 7th grade basketball team defeated River Bend Elementary School 36-31 to win their division in the Yuba City Unified School District season-ending tournament.
Shawn Uriostegui scored 11 points and Karndave Kang had six points with 12 rebounds to lead the Eagles, who went 3-0 in the tournament after finishing the regular season 2-8.
