The honors just keep on coming for the Stassi family.

Yuba City High baseball coach Jim Stassi was named California's Coach of the Year by MaxPreps.com after leading the Honkers to their third straight section championship.

The Honkers were 28-3 this season and have won five consecutive conference titles under Stassi, who just finished his 18th year at the helm of the Honker baseball program.

Over the last three years, Stassi's teams have posted an impressive overall record of 87-7 and this year Yuba City was ranked No. 33 in the nation by Baseball America.

However, Stassi wasn't the only Honker honored by MaxPreps.com.

Stassi's son, former Yuba City catcher Max Stassi, was named to the MaxPreps California All-State First Team after finishing the year with a .538 average, 11 home runs and 38 RBI.

The senior was drafted in the fourth round of this year's draft by the Oakland Athletics and also has a full-ride scholarship to UCLA.

Honker pitcher Michael Lowden was named to the second team after his 11-0, 102-strikeout senior season. He will play for the California Golden Bears next season.
