Roundup: Yuba tennis loses match
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The Yuba College men's tennis team nearly stole one from powerful Sacramento City College.
Trailing 3-2 when the rains came on Feb. 19, the 49ers and the Panthers finished Wednesday with some closely contested matches that left Yuba (3-8, 1-7) on the low side of a 5-4 Bay Valley Conference loss.
49ers coach Josh Prager shook up his doubles combinations in hopes of sweeping the three matches. The strategy nearly worked as Daniel Henke and Eduardo Rocha won their match, as did Shawn Aldrich and John Norberg.
Sacramento City, however, held on to win the third doubles match and secure the victory.
In singles, Henke and Aldrich had already won. Rocha was up 4-3 in the third set when the rains came. He dropped the match, 1-6, 6-4, 4-6. Steven Lay was down 0-6, 2-5 when his match was stopped. He rallied to force a tiebreaker in the second set, but also took the loss.
