Tawnie Savage 8 kills, 8 digs

Yuba spikers win BVC

The Yuba College volleyball team closed its regular season with a bang on Wednesday — a Bay Valley Conference championship.

"I'm doing pretty good right now," said Yuba coach Greg Chapman.

Yuba College defeated Los Medanos 25-17, 25-20, 25-23 on the road, which is exactly where the 49ers will be come playoff time next week.

"Our preseason didn't go as well, so we won't get a home match," Chapman said.

Fiona Newman, Magan Coupe and Tawnie Savage each had eight kills, while Lateric Johnson smashed six and Kristan Music had three.

Music also had 30 assists and two aces, while Savage and Newman each had eight digs.

Johnson also added four digs, while Coupe blocked two shots.

Yuba College finished the regular season 17-6 overall and 15-1 in the BVC.

The postseason seedings meeting will take place on Saturday.
