Yuba soccer teams ousted from playoffs

The Yuba College men's soccer team was knocked out of the NorCal playoffs in the first round on Saturday with a 1-0 loss to Modesto.

The 49ers dominated in time of possession, but failed to score a goal to advance to the second round.

Goalie Moses Osequero let the lone Pirate goal through in the 90th minute of the game, but was named by Yuba College coach Imed Dossy for his excellent work in goal.

Yuba, which has never made it past the first round, won the Bay Valley Conference title for the second straight year and finished the season at 12-6-2.

The women's soccer team had an opportunity early, but couldn't convert in the 1-0 playoff loss to Skyline.

Yuba College completed the season with just enough players and finished second in the Bay Valley Conference with a 11-8-2 record.

"We worked really hard this season. Next year we aim for the second, third, fourth round of playoffs, but second will do. We just want to get better," coach Dossy said.
