Rice field meetings planned

Weedy rice field meetings are planned this week, presented by the University of California Cooperative Extension.

The meetings, at two local sites, are to show how to spot and identify weedy rice and see what it looks like in the field. Observation is from the edge of the infected field.

Interested persons can stop by between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Tuesday at Old Highway 99 and Comet Lane, southeast corner, in Maxwell; or the same time Wednesday at Vernon Road, 1.5 miles south of West Catlett Road, Nicolaus.

Looking at samples and fields takes about 20 minutes.
