Students at Pierce High School were honored Monday for their accomplishments and contributions made during their high school careers.
Here are the honorees:
Zachariah Wilson Dafoe participated in Future Farmers of America and played football all four years of high school. He also ran track and field, played golf and was part of the Farm Power Tech Team. He plans on attending Texas Tech University and majoring in Computer Science.
Darleny Lizbeth Corona was on the honor roll all four years of high school and is co-valedictorian this year. She participated in Script P and Agricultural Leadership. She interned at the California Latino Capitol Association Foundation and was part of the Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Project class of 2018. While in school, Corona served as the Executive Associated Student Body Treasurer and the Future Farmers of America Reporter. She plans to attend the University of Michigan and major in Mathematics.
Katherine Ann Corona is the Pierce High School class of 2019 Salutatorian. She served as Executive Associated Student Body president and class secretary. Corona was active in volleyball, basketball, track and Script P. She plans to attend Sierra College and follow in her mother’s footsteps to become a teacher for Pierce Joint Unified School District.
Emma Marie Doherty is the Pierce High School class of 2019 co-valedictorian. She is a Future Farmers of America State degree holder. While in school she served as the 4-H and Junior Fair Board President and Associated Student Body Executive Secretary. She plans to attend Cal-Poly, San Luis Obispo, majoring in Viticulture and Enology.
Cody Michael Stafford held the secretary and treasurer positions in Future Business Leaders of America and placed third and forth in Marketing and Entrepreneurship Competitive Events. He was part of the Honor Society and was Pierce District Regional Occupational Program Student of the Year. He plans to attend Woodland Community College before transferring to a University of California school to major in Computer Science.
Kylie Renee Stephens participated in Future Farmers of America all four years of high school. She was also active in wrestling and softball. Stephens plans to attend the University of California, Davis and major in Sociology.
Aiden Charter was active in football, track and Future Farmers of America. He was also a mentor for American Education Services students.
Abigail Mendoza was active in volleyball, basketball, softball, Future Farmers of America and Dynamix. She also served as the Junior Class Treasurer and worked for the Arbuckle Parks and Recreation Department.
Grace Alonso was active in volleyball, softball, basketball, Future Farmers of America and Dynamix. She held the position of Class President during her Freshmand and Sophomore years. Alonso has worked at Shady Creek as a counselor and at the Arbuckle Parks and Recreation Department.
Emma Hofhenke was active in the Pierce High School Band, Sacramento Youth Symphony and the Yolo Community Band. She has performed at Carnegie Hall twice and competed in the State Solo Competition. Hofhenke has held the position of Northern California Honor Bands 1st Clarinet, Northern Section Honor Band Principle Clarinet and Pit Orchestra Principle Clarinet. In school, she participated in Future Farmers of America, 4-H and Future Business Leaders of America. She has served as 4-H Vice President, Principle Clarinet for the Sacramento Youth Symphony and Principal Clarinet Pierce High School.
Crystal Medina was active in Future Farmers of America and Future Business Leaders of America. She has served as the Arbuckle Future Farmer of America Secretary, Junior Class Co-President, 2018-2019 Superior Region Vice President, 2018-2019 North Valley Section President and 2019-2020 Superior Region President.
Emily Ehrke was active in volleyball, basketball, softball and Dynamix Club. She served as Freshman Class Secretary, Junior Class Co-President and as a member of the Colusa County Junior Fair board.
Alejandra Centro was active in Future Business Leaders of America and is the current chapter president. He also serves on the Future Farmers of America Committee, Agricultural Communications team, Spanish Honor Society, Pierce Academic Honor Society and Astronomy Club. Centro serves as the treasurer for Public Relations Club, Junior Class Secretary, and the audio visual manager for Cathedral de Fe Church. He is also a Future Business Leaders of America Sections Marketing and Entrepreneurship Competitor.
Saffa Yafai is active in writing club, music, choir and Future Business Leaders of America. She is a member of the Spanish Honors Society and Pierce Academic Society and has served as a school pianist, choir pianist, Pumpkin Festival Liaison and Future Farmers of America Field Day Kitchen Assistant.
Sophomores honored include: Elizabeth “Betsy” Meyers, Hudson Bair, Jacob “Jack” Marsh, Kyle Howell, Sierra Murphy and Luke Voohees.
