After finding some tough going in the early rounds at the Father’s Day Summer Slam in Chico, the Tri-County Cats finished strong by downing the Chico Suns Blue and Yuba City in their final two games.
On June 18, the Cats doubled up the Suns Blue 4-2 behind strong pitching from Ethan Lay who went six innings scattering five hits and striking out five before giving way to Drew Bradbury who closed out the game.
At the plate, Justin Lee finished 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI while Emanuel Frias had a hit and drove in a pair of runs.
Lay and Nick Price also picked up hits in the win.
In their final game of the tournament on June 19, the Cats had no trouble as they cruised to an 8-0 run rule shortened win over Yuba City.
Bradbury went the distance on the hill yielding just two hits and helped his cause by finishing 2-for-3 with an RBI at the plate.
Price doubled and drove in a run with a sacrifice fly while Lay and Frias each singled.
The Cats (8-5) play today at 5 p.m. in Gridley.
