Playing on the road in just their second match of the season, a shorthanded RedHawk team was edged by the Cardinals in Corning 5-4 last Friday.

Colusa picked up wins in the No. 1 and No. 3 singles spots as Trent Giffin and Diego Avila defeated their opponents.

Giffin went to three sets against Corning’s Macolm Olkeril before emerging victorious 6-1,1-6, 6-2 , while Avila downed Javi Santillan in straight sets 6-3, 7-5.

In doubles, Giffin and partner Cameron Telford prevailed 7-4 in a tiebreaker whereas the duo of Avila and Adrien Perez also took care of business to claim an 8-4 win.

Next up for the RedHawks is a league match at home against Orland on Thursday.
