Although they have yet to have one full team practice, the Colusa boys tennis team opened the season at home in a non-league match with Oroville on Feb. 28, with a loss 7-2.

Despite coming up short to the Tigers, Diego Avila in the No. 2 spot picked up a win in singles play, downing his opponent in straight sets 6-1, 6-1.

On the doubles court, Adrian Perez and J.C. Casorla overcame a 0-6 deficit to win a tiebreaker 7-2 and collect the RedHawks’ second win of the afternoon.

Colusa, weather permitting, was scheduled for a home match on Tuesday against Corning before traveling to Orland for another non-league contest on Thursday.
