Despite the inclement weather last Saturday at the Sacramento Valley Shooting Club in Sloughouse, the Colusa County Ducks persevered to claim two first place and two second place medals in the final regular season event before the state tournament next month.
In the JV division, Chase Carrere stood atop the podium after hitting 89 of 100 targets while Gus Armstrong won in Intermediate Advanced recording an 88.
The two Ducks taking second in their respective divisions included Grayson Hardwick with an 83 in Intermediate Advanced and Rowdy Davidson, who shot 62 percent in the Rookie competition.
After the action had concluded coach Bruce Hardwick summed up the Ducks’ performance by saying, “The conditions were less than favorable and scores overall were lower because of it, but I feel we gained some valuable experience in making adjustments.”
Next up for the Ducks is the California Youth Shooting Sports Association’s State Championships with the juniors heading to Los Banos on June 1 and 2 while the seniors will compete in Stockton on June 15 and 16.
