It was a small step, but a move forward nonetheless. The Colusa County Board of Supervisors voted to approve two potential contractors for the new jail project on Aug. 8. The sheriff’s department interviewed three companies interested in taking on the project; two made it to the next step.

The Colusa Fish and Game Commission is still apprehensive about the mountain lion that ran through town, and into a woman’s apartment, on July 4. But since options are limited on how to deal with the big cat, the commission plans to focus on spreading awareness to deter further encounters.

Each week, singing and dancing kids have filled the children's area of the Colusa County Library for its Thursday story time for all ages. Now, the library is hoping to bring in even more kids by hosting a Spanish story time each Wednesday mid-morning for toddlers.
