Read Across America Day program is great to see
With so many digital options and screens all around us, it’s nice to see a celebration of reading excite so many people.
As detailed with a story and cute photos on today’s front page, Burchfield Primary School got fully into the spirit of Dr. Seuss and Read Across America Day on Friday.
“I think whatever we can do to get our kids interested in reading is really important,” said Ellen Cenami, reading specialist at Burchfield. “Whenever we celebrate an author like this we see an uptick in kids checking out the books.”
That’s great to hear, as sometimes we worry if books are going by the wayside ... and then we see great reminders that they are alive and well!
Bring on more daylight hours
Well, we’ve come to the beginning of Daylight Saving Time.
As much as people might want to debate the topic, there’s one thing that we a think a majority of people can settle on: Having more daylight hours to go outside and enjoy the things we love!
There have been talks over the years about making changes to the practice, but it doesn’t seem that much traction has been gained. We’ll wait and see.
