Youth Achievements: FFA

This year at the 160th Yuba Sutter Fair, all 60 Sutter FFA exhibitors did an outstanding job showing and selling their Market and Breeding animals, along with the members who chose to take Ag Mechanics projects. With over 450 lots sold, the Yuba-Sutter Fair exhibitors made a record breaking profit of over $1 million.

Starting with Swine, Dillan Wurm raised the Champion FFA Market Hog, and went on to receive Supreme Champion FFA Market Hog. First year member, Caeley Jackson got 1st place in Novice Swine Showmanship. Members Caeley Jackson, Dillan Wurm, and Megan Matteoli participated in the Pen of Three, and received 1st place.  Taylor Bailey received 1st place in “Bred and Fed” competition.

For Sheep, Kace Ingvoldsen got 1st place in Advanced FFA Sheep Showmanship, along with Shyanne Maral receiving 2nd place in the class. Maral also received Reserve Champion Breeding Ewe.  Owen Brockman received the award of Champion FFA Lamb.  Participants Kace Ingvoldsen, Owen Brockman, and Shyanne Maral won 1st place in the Pen of Three competition.

In Goats Kace Ingvoldsen won 1st place Samantha Simpson won 2nd place in Advanced FFA Goat Showmanship.  Matthew Long received 1st place and Katelyn Parker took 2nd place in Novice FFA Goat Showmanship. Kace Ingvoldsen also won Supreme and Reserve Supreme Doe.

For Beef Colton Dillabo won 1st place in Advanced FFA Beef Showmanship advancing him into Round Robin.

Alyssa Parker won 1st place in Advanced FFA Pygmy Goat Showmanship, Reserve Bred and Owned Doe, along with Reserve Bred and Owned Weather.

For Dog Showmanship, Austin Barden won 1st place in Advanced FFA Dog Showmanship, and Abigail Bazzano won 1st place in Novice FFA Obedience Showmanship. 

In Large Animal Round Robin Kace Ingvoldsen placed 1st, Samantha Simpson placed 2nd, and Colton Dillabo placed 4th.  Representing Sutter FFA in the Small Animal Round Robin, Alyssa Parker placed 1st, and Austin Barden placed 2nd.

Emma Cucchi and her laying hen won 1st place in the egg laying contest.

For Livestock Judging Individual Kace Ingvoldsen placed 1st, and Colton Dillabo placed 4th.  The team, “Sutter Boys” consisting of Colton Dillabo, Kace Ingvoldsen, and Owen Brockman, took 2nd High Senior Team.

Seniors Alyssa Parker and Shyanne Maral, received the Mark Lemenager Scholarship.  

We would like to give a big welcome to the new Yuba-Sutter Fair CEO Dave Dillabo. My fellow officers and out wonderful Agriculture Advisors Ms. Gomes, Mr. Wheeler, and Mrs. WIlson would like to congratulate all the exhibitors of Sutter FFA, and all other 4-H clubs, and FFA Chapters.  Thanks for a great year, see you in 2019.
